PS does not change abstention in OE2027 despite housing
The PS Secretary-General, José Luís Carneiro, confirmed the party's abstention on the 2027 State Budget despite housing disagreements with the government. He emphasized that creating a political crisis amid social and economic crises would hinder the government's ability to address citizens' needs. Carneiro urged Prime Minister Luís Montenegro to transfer IHRU properties to municipalities for rehabilitation. He criticized the new rental law, claiming it restricts access for youth and families, and called for its repeal. Carneiro also questioned the feasibility of a "moderate rent" of 2,300 euros and supported the President's call for political dialogue on housing issues, noting a lack of government openness to discussions.
