PSP detains people who used prison kitchen for trafficking

The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested three individuals for using the Leiria Prison kitchen to smuggle drugs and mobile phones. The detainees, two women and a man, were apprehended as part of a larger investigation into organized crime involving the introduction of prohibited items into the prison. A key figure in this operation was a 37-year-old female cook who maintained direct contact with inmates, facilitating the smuggling process. The investigation revealed significant quantities of hashish and mobile phones were smuggled into the prison over several months. The arrested individuals face prison sentences ranging from two years and two months to seven years for drug trafficking.
