Bridge sees "inexplicable" that the Adif operator authorized the Renfe train that collided with the Iryo to leave

Transport Minister Óscar Puente attributed the recent train collision in Toledo, which resulted in 68 fatalities, to an "erroneous decision" by Adif's control center. He stated that the decision to resume train operations without restoring safety systems was inexplicable. The incident occurred when a Renfe high-speed train was authorized to proceed despite a red signal and a stationary Iryo train ahead. Puente emphasized that the control center failed to rectify the situation despite having ample time to do so. He ruled out resignation, focusing instead on clarifying the incident's causes, especially following a previous train accident in Córdoba that resulted in 46 deaths.
