"Putin tries to breathe life into the myth". ISW reveals the numbers
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reports that Vladimir Putin is attempting to revive the myth of inevitable Russian military victory to pressure the U.S. and Ukraine into capitulation. However, ISW's analysis indicates that a Russian victory is highly unlikely unless Western support for Ukraine falters. The report highlights that Ukraine has maintained initiative on key fronts and that Russian claims of territorial gains are exaggerated. Despite Russia's larger population, recruitment issues and high casualties hinder its military efforts. The report concludes that Putin's strategy may involve strategic bombing campaigns rather than a full-scale military assault, but these have not proven effective in forcing Ukraine to surrender.
