Pyongyang launches more than 10 ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan

North Korea launched over ten short-range ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan, according to South Korea's military. The missiles were fired from Wonsan around 12:30 PM local time. This marks the first missile test since October 14, amid rising tensions between the Koreas following a mine explosion on the border. South Korea accused North Korea of placing explosives on its side of the Military Demarcation Line and reported the incident to the UN Security Council. North Korea denied involvement and accused South Korea of distorting facts. The missile launch follows Kim Jong-un's call for an elite military and threats from his sister, Kim Yo-jong, regarding increased armament.
