Quadozók dug up the protected area of Szentendre Island, the Capital Waterworks will file a report
Unknown individuals used quads to access a protected area on Szentendre Island, damaging the land and prompting a report by the Budapest Waterworks. The low water levels of the Danube allowed access to normally submerged areas, some of which are protected and require permits for entry and vehicle use. The Budapest Waterworks emphasized that the retreating water does not change the protected status of these areas and warned that quad and off-road vehicle use can severely harm the soil and vegetation, posing risks to natural water filtration and drinking water safety. They reiterated that these areas cannot be used for recreational purposes and will take action against similar incidents in the future.
