Rankings 2025. 5 curiosities about the 9th year

The 2025 school rankings show a slight increase in the average exam scores for the 9th grade, rising to 55.1%. However, the retention rate has also seen a minor increase. The first public school now ranks 24th, with significant improvements noted in some institutions. The Escola Básica Sá Couto in Espinho achieved the highest overall score increase, while the Escola Básica da Trafaria in Almada, despite being near the bottom of the rankings, improved in all metrics. The report highlights disparities in performance, particularly in schools with high percentages of students receiving social support. The data was released by the Ministry of Education and analyzed by Observador in collaboration with Nova SBE.
