Rankings ModA 4th year. Highest scores in English
In 2025, students in 4th and 6th grades took the first Monitoring Learning tests (ModA), with private schools achieving the highest scores. The tests, which do not affect final grades, aim to identify weaknesses in literacy and skills. The top school for 4th graders was Novo Colégio Chupetão in Porto, followed by Externato Infantil Paraíso dos Pequeninos. Public schools also performed well, with Escola Básica de Igreja in Lousada scoring 71.94 points, above the national average of 54.3. English scores were notably higher than those in Portuguese or Mathematics. The results indicate a need for transparency in test structures to better understand student performance. Concerns were raised about the significant number of students struggling with Mathematics, highlighting potential future challenges in education.
