Report: youth protectors knew of physical and mental abuse in family home in Spain, but did not intervene

An investigation revealed that youth protection workers ignored signs of abuse at Huize Soria in Spain, where children faced physical and psychological mistreatment. Despite warnings, placements continued for years, leading to severe restrictions on the youths' freedoms. The report by Maruda highlighted illegal placements and a lack of oversight from the organization Samen Veilig Midden-Nederland (SVMN). Following testimonies from former residents, SVMN acknowledged failures and announced plans for improvement, including ceasing new placements abroad. Huize Soria, which denied the allegations, was closed by Spanish authorities due to lack of a permit.
