The Teachers' Union responded to the 2027 budget plan
The proposed budget for next year increases funding for education, but the promised salary raises for education workers fall short of campaign commitments. Gosztonyi Gábor from the Teachers' Union criticized the government's plans, noting that while overall funding is up, the promised 25% salary increase for educators has been reduced to 15% by 2027. The education minister stated that eliminating waste would allow more resources for schools, with an average salary increase of 21.5% for education support staff. Protests have occurred due to dissatisfaction with the government's smaller-than-promised salary adjustments, affecting various sectors including social workers. Prime Minister Magyar Péter assured that salary increases would occur in two phases, with additional funding allocated for social services and child protection in the upcoming budget.
