Record fine of 37 million euros for illegal gambling provider

The Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa) has imposed a record fine of 37 million euros on the illegal gambling company EOD Code SRL, registered in Costa Rica. The company operated various gambling websites in the Netherlands without a license, including Instantcasino and Skyhills. In 2024, Ksa had already identified the company as non-compliant and warned them about potential penalties. An investigation revealed at least eleven other illegal gambling sites lacking proper age verification and allowing payments via cryptocurrencies. Despite multiple opportunities to respond, EOD Code has not reacted to the Ksa. The authority is also collaborating with hosting providers and payment services to block access to these illegal sites.
