Surprising decline in GDP in the third quarter, the French economy flirts with recession
The French economy faces challenges as GDP fell by 0.1% in Q3, contrary to expectations of growth. Inflation continues to rise, prompting concerns from Economy Minister Roland Lescure, who stated that without budgetary recovery, France risks economic decline. This marks the second negative growth this year, following a 0.2% drop in Q1 and stagnation in Q2. While a technical recession is not yet declared, a revision of Q2 figures could change that. Revised accounts will be published at the end of November.
