Referendum in Olecko invalid. The mayor remains

In a recent referendum, 1976 voters supported the dismissal of the mayor, while 129 opposed it. However, due to a low turnout of only 13.34%, the result lacks legal validity and will not affect the mayor's position. The mayor will remain in office, as confirmed by the chair of the Municipal Referendum Commission, Sylwia Barszczewska. The referendum was initiated by councilors in late July due to the mayor, Karol Sobczak, failing to obtain approval for two consecutive years. For the referendum to be valid, at least 3/5 of the voters from the mayor's election, totaling 4114 residents, needed to participate.
