Government increases intervention from the Social Heating Fund this winter
Families facing financial difficulties will receive increased support from the Social Heating Fund to cope with rising heating oil prices. This initiative, approved by the government, aims to alleviate the burden on vulnerable households during winter. The enhanced assistance will be available from December 1, 2026, to February 28, 2027, covering costs exceeding €1.475 per liter. Currently, the maximum support is €0.20 per liter, but this is deemed insufficient due to price hikes. A budget of €15 million has been allocated, split between the Social Heating Fund and the Gas and Electricity Fund, with the latter administered through local welfare offices.
