Record number of Hungarians vacationed in Croatia, domestic tourism has collapsed

The strong forint has negatively impacted Hungary's hospitality sector, with a 7% decline in tourist numbers compared to last year, particularly among foreign visitors, which dropped by 13%. Meanwhile, a record 834,000 Hungarians vacationed in Croatia by the end of September. The decrease in foreign tourists is attributed to the reduced purchasing power of their money due to currency fluctuations. Experts indicate that the tourism sector has reached a limit where rising energy costs can no longer be passed on to guests.
