"I hope this is just the beginning" – the chairman of the committee investigating the MNB scandal reacted to Matolcsy's arrest

Attila Csőszi, the chairman of the parliamentary committee investigating the MNB, commented on the recent arrest of György Matolcsy, indicating that this is just the beginning of the authorities' actions. The Central Investigative Prosecutor's Office conducted a large-scale operation related to the MNB case, covering multiple locations. Csőszi noted that serious crimes may have occurred within the MNB, which is not new information for the public or authorities. The committee is currently reviewing documents related to the MNB's operations, including a recent submission of around 30,000 pages from the current central bank governor, Mihály Varga. He suggested that the former governor and his associates are implicated in significant losses of the MNB foundations' assets and discussed future plans regarding the Matolcsy case.
