Reorganization at shipbuilder Damen, 225 jobs cut in the Netherlands

Shipbuilder Damen plans to cut approximately 225 jobs out of 4000 in the Netherlands to streamline its organization. The layoffs will occur over the next twelve to eighteen months across various departments and shipyards. While the company hopes to manage many of these reductions through natural attrition, forced layoffs are not ruled out. The news has hit employees hard, especially after losing a significant order from the German Defense Minister for six frigates. Damen insists that the reorganization is unrelated to this setback and has invited unions to discuss a social plan for affected workers.
