The doping trial repetition at W52-FC Porto starts on December 15

The retrial of the doping case involving the former cycling team W52-FC Porto will commence on December 15 in Paços de Ferreira. This decision follows the Porto Court of Appeal's ruling that deemed the previous trial's evidence, particularly statements from former sports director Nuno Ribeiro, as illegal. All defendants, except three acquitted in the first trial, must attend the retrial. In December 2025, Ribeiro and team owner Adriano Quintanilha received prison sentences for their roles in the doping scheme. Ribeiro previously admitted to the existence of doping within the team, attributing the scheme's orchestration to Quintanilha. The retrial aims to clarify the facts surrounding the case and ensure a fair judgment.
