The doping trial will be repeated on December 15

The retrial of the doping case involving the former cycling team W52-FC Porto will begin on December 15 in Paços de Ferreira. A judicial order from the Penafiel Court has set this date for the reopening of the hearing, which will take place in a facility adjacent to the local prison due to space constraints. The Porto Court of Appeal mandated the retrial and revision of the initial ruling, deeming the previous testimony of the team's former sports director, Nuno Ribeiro, as illegally obtained. Most defendants must attend the retrial, except for three who were acquitted earlier. In December 2025, two individuals were sentenced to prison terms for their roles in the doping scheme, which involved 26 defendants, including former cyclists. Ribeiro plans to testify again, clarifying his previous statements about the doping practices encouraged by team owner Adriano Quintanilha.
