Macau's financial reserve reaches record high before the creation of a new fund

Macau's financial reserve reached a record high of 705.6 billion patacas in August, prior to transferring 3 billion euros to a new public fund and strengthening the Pension Fund. The reserve saw an increase of 3.57 billion patacas in August alone, surpassing the previous record set in June. Macau remains debt-free and typically runs budget surpluses, except during the pandemic years. The extraordinary reserve stood at 518.4 billion patacas, while the basic reserve was 163.6 billion patacas. Investments made significant contributions to the reserve's growth, yielding over 42.9 billion patacas in 2025, with a return rate of 6.9%.
