Restaurants in Sardinia challenge to be "at the table without screens"

In Sardinia, Italy, a pilot project called "A tavola senza schermi" encourages families to put away their phones during meals to foster conversation. Initiated by Anna Cau and the Italian Federation of Restoration, the initiative aims to reduce screen time for children and promote family interaction. Over a month, participating restaurants will provide games and materials to engage families while waiting for their meals. The project emphasizes the importance of adults modeling behavior by also disconnecting from devices. It seeks to address issues related to excessive screen use and its impact on social interactions, with hopes of expanding to more establishments after the trial period.
