Tax Revolution. Senate Against the Sejm
Senator Kazimierz Kleina proposed amendments to restore the government's original tax law proposals, which were supported by the Senate's Budget and Finance Committee. The amendments aim to reinstate a planned increase in the corporate income tax (CIT) for large companies and eliminate annual adjustments of tax thresholds based on inflation. The Ministry of Finance warns that the proposed adjustments could lead to significant revenue losses for public finances, estimating costs of around 4.1 billion PLN in 2028, increasing in subsequent years. The government supports the original tax law as presented, which includes raising the first income tax threshold and increasing the solidarity tax for high earners. The changes are set to take effect on January 1, 2027.
