Alerts were sent to phones and airports were closed in Romania due to drone sightings
On Saturday evening, residents of six counties in eastern Romania were alerted due to drone sightings, leading to temporary flight suspensions at Iasi International Airport and the closure of Suceava International Airport. The Romanian Ministry of Defense reported that their radar detected an aerial target near the Moldovan border, prompting the deployment of two F-16 fighter jets. Alerts were sent to the population regarding the risk of falling objects, extending to several counties. A second drone was also detected, which later exited Romanian airspace. Flights were redirected, and authorities urged the public to remain calm and report any fallen objects. This incident follows numerous drone incursions linked to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
