"We absolutely did not expect this" – union leader on police salary increase
The KRSZ expressed disappointment over the announced salary increase for law enforcement, citing poor communication from the Ministry of Interior. Prime Minister Péter Magyar announced an average 15% salary increase starting January 1, with specific adjustments to the base salary and allowances. The changes include an increase in the base salary from 38,650 HUF to 42,515 HUF, and additional allowances for various police units. The increase also applies to the lowest-paid employees in the sector, including administrative staff and security personnel. The KRSZ believes that while any increase is better than nothing, the lack of transparency has caused unrest among the workforce.
