A passenger plane turned in the wrong direction on the runway in Frankfurt

A Pegasus Airlines Airbus A321neo mistakenly lined up on the wrong runway direction at Frankfurt Airport but did not take off. The pilots quickly recognized the error and halted the takeoff process. The aircraft, operating flight PC 996 to Istanbul, was cleared for takeoff but turned onto the runway facing north instead of south. Air traffic control alerted the crew, who safely stopped before attempting to take off in the wrong direction. The aircraft then returned to a waiting point and took off about seven minutes later. The incident has been reported to the relevant authorities by the German air traffic service, DFS.
