Russian ship Viktor Leonov off the coast of Scotland. Royal Navy sent helicopters
Between September 29 and October 8, the Russian reconnaissance ship Viktor Leonov was tracked near the Outer Hebrides by British naval helicopters. The ship monitored NATO units participating in the Strike Warrior exercises, which involved around 2,000 soldiers from six countries. The British emphasized their readiness to defend the nation, as demonstrated by the swift deployment of Merlin helicopters from Cornwall to Scotland. Additionally, the Royal Navy's HMS Dauntless and HMS Tyne engaged with Russian vessels in the English Channel, highlighting the UK's role in countering Russian naval activities. Interventions by the Royal Navy regarding Russian warships increased by 25% in the first seven months of the year compared to the previous year.
