Rotterdam builds bridge of great symbolic value for cancer patients

A new pedestrian bridge has been installed at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, connecting the Daniel den Hoed Family House with the cancer department. This 100-meter bridge, partly made of wood, holds significant symbolic value, allowing cancer patients and their families to cross safely without navigating busy roads. Construction began in September last year, and it is expected to open in mid-December after final touches. The project received funding from KWF Kankerbestrijding, which donated 1.1 million euros, partly raised during the 2023 Rotterdam Marathon. The bridge is named after Daniel den Hoed, a pioneer in radiotherapy in the Netherlands.
