Rotterdammer suspected of identity fraud after football ticket scam
A 31-year-old man from Rotterdam was arrested for hacking the accounts of nearly fifty season ticket holders from fifteen Eredivisie clubs. The investigation began after a staff member's account at sc Heerenveen was compromised, leading to the sale of tickets on Marktplaats. Buyers were unaware they were dealing with a fraudster, as they believed they were purchasing from legitimate season ticket holders. Following the discovery of the fraud, sc Heerenveen invalidated the affected tickets, which buyers only realized at the stadium. The suspect is now facing charges of identity fraud, and police have seized electronic devices for further investigation.
