RTP "needs to transform, it is not to disappear"

The Minister of the Presidency emphasized the need for RTP's restructuring, focusing on cost adjustments and revenue generation without increasing the Audiovisual Contribution. António Leitão Amaro stated that RTP should review its fixed public obligations and adapt to current realities. He acknowledged potential state capital injections but insisted that RTP must be ambitious and innovative to generate additional revenue. A new Board of Directors will be appointed next year to intensify discussions on these changes. The minister also mentioned that funds allocated for restructuring will be used for technology and work resources, not for layoffs, following a previous voluntary exit plan.
