Rubber boat in Zeeland had 36 Afghans on board, 2 Sudanese arrested
On Saturday morning, the Dutch Marechaussee responded to a report of a rubber boat with 38 people adrift off the Zeeland coast. The Coast Guard successfully towed the boat to Cadzand harbor, where all passengers were safely disembarked and medically checked. Among the 38 individuals, 36 were Afghan nationals, while two Sudanese were arrested on suspicion of human smuggling. The migrants are currently being processed at the Marechaussee's facility in Hoogerheide, where their identities are verified and their asylum intentions assessed. The origin of the boat and its intended destination remain unclear.
