Rupert Friend on the Hungarian language: It's like leaving this planet

The Budapest International Film Festival recently showcased Lili Horváth's first English-language film, "My Notes from Mars," featuring Mackenzie Davis and Rupert Friend. Friend shared his experiences filming in Hungary, noting his struggles with the Hungarian language, which he found challenging yet enriching for his character's authenticity. He plays an American man adapting to life in Hungary with his wife. The film will be released in Hungarian cinemas this winter, following its debut at the Venice Film Festival. Horváth described the project as a "tightrope walk" and mentioned that casting changes were necessary due to the National Film Institute's involvement.
