Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta is closing. It cited pressure from authorities as the reason.

The opposition Russian newspaper Novaja gazeta announced its closure after over thirty years, citing pressure from authorities. It will cease operations on November 9, following eviction from its long-time office. The editorial team expressed that they were forced to end their work under constant threat of repression. The closure also means the end of a museum dedicated to journalist Anna Politkovskaya. Novaja gazeta, known for investigating corruption and human rights abuses, had previously suspended operations in Russia due to government restrictions related to the Ukraine invasion. It was labeled a 'foreign agent' by the Ministry of Justice in September.
