Russia-friendly Yotova wins Bulgaria's presidential runoff
Iliana Yotova has won Bulgaria's presidential election with 57.58% of the vote, defeating pro-Western candidate Andrey Gyurov. Yotova, who opposes military aid to Ukraine, has been acting president since January. Her victory reflects a continuation of the Ukraine-skeptic policies of her predecessor, Rumen Radev. The election saw a low voter turnout of 27-29%. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen congratulated Yotova, emphasizing collaboration on security and energy independence.
