Russian ministry recommends underground data centers following Ukrainian drone strikes

Russia's Digital Development Ministry suggests constructing underground data centers to protect against Ukrainian drone strikes. The proposal includes guidelines for existing and future facilities, categorizing them into three tiers based on their strategic importance. The top tier consists of critical sites whose loss could disrupt state functions, while the second tier includes regionally important systems. The final tier covers corporate data centers with limited impact on the state. Following recent drone attacks on several data centers, the ministry emphasizes the need for enhanced visibility reduction and layered defenses. Additionally, Kemerovo Oblast's governor proposed using depleted mines for data center construction due to their natural protection.
