The government wants harsher penalties for child sexual offenders
The Polish Ministry of Justice has proposed stricter penalties for sexual offenses against children, including longer prison sentences and the elimination of statutes of limitations for such crimes. The new legislation aims to enhance the protection of child victims and ensure that offenders can be prosecuted regardless of when the crime occurred. Changes include increasing penalties for sexual exploitation and the distribution of pornography to minors, as well as shifting the investigation process from police inquiries to prosecutor-led investigations. The bill is currently in the legislative process.
