Will the government terminate the concession agreement for A2? The ministry responds to gigantic price increases
The Ministry of Infrastructure confirmed an ongoing review of the concessionaire's obligations regarding the A2 highway toll increases. Since 2015, tolls have risen by 141-145%, with personal vehicle fees increasing from 17 PLN to 41 PLN. The concession agreement, effective since 1997, allows the concessionaire to set tolls within contract limits, limiting state intervention. The ministry has sought consumer protection assessments but found no grounds for claims against the concessionaire. Currently, there are no legislative efforts to restrict toll increases or provide subsidies for specific user groups, with the contract expiring in March 2037.
