Sai Rui Borges, enters Paulo Fonseca

Sporting CP has announced the departure of Rui Borges as head coach, following a successful yet tumultuous tenure. Tiago Fernandes will temporarily lead the team while Paulo Fonseca, currently with Lyon, is set to take over. Borges, who joined in December 2024, achieved significant success, including a league title and a historic Champions League run. However, recent poor performances led to increased fan discontent and ultimately his dismissal. Fonseca returns to Portugal with extensive experience, aiming to restore the team's competitiveness in domestic and European competitions.
