Ambulance as a trap and a subdued constable. It has been 75 years since the Mašín brothers' action in Čelákovice.
On September 28, 1951, Ctirad Mašín and his group ambushed police officer Jaroslav Honzátko in Čelákovice, resulting in his death. The Mašín brothers viewed their actions as part of a legitimate fight against the communist regime. They had previously attempted a similar robbery in Chlumec, which ended with an unintended killing. During the Čelákovice operation, they used a fake accident to lure Honzátko, who was then disarmed and killed. Ctirad Mašín later claimed that the intent to kill was premeditated, while others suggested it was a reaction to resistance. Historical evidence supports the planned nature of the attack, including the use of chloroform and a knife. Honzátko, a police officer since 1945, was not specifically targeted but was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The incident reflects the violent tensions of the era and the Mašín brothers' commitment to their cause.
