The sanction of free credit will be limited. Such changes are desired by the Żurek ministry
On October 22, the Ministry of Justice held a meeting regarding a new consumer credit law, proposing significant changes to the free credit sanction mechanism. The Ministry plans to limit the use of this sanction, transferring enforcement responsibilities to the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK). UOKiK will handle cases against banks violating consumer rights, while the free credit sanction will only apply to severe violations. The Ministry aims to streamline the process, avoiding lengthy court decisions. The draft law is expected to be published in early December, allowing for further refinement and stakeholder input.
