Sanctuary in Alentejo is set to receive a second elephant in November
The Pangea elephant sanctuary in Alentejo will welcome a second elephant, Kariba, in mid-November, with plans for a third elephant next year. Sanctuary manager Ryan Hockley confirmed that Kariba, currently in a Belgian zoo, is in better health and ready for transport. Preparations are underway for Kariba and Julie, the first elephant, to bond safely. Julie has adapted well since her arrival, spending more time outdoors and enjoying the sanctuary's facilities. The sanctuary plans to expand its area from three to thirty hectares to accommodate more elephants in the future, with a total capacity of thirty animals.
