Sardinia says "no" to phones at the table. These restaurants are introducing a ban
The initiative "A tavola senza schermi" aims to encourage families to engage in conversation without screens during meals. Launched by Anna Cau, the children's rights spokesperson in Sardinia, it addresses the growing issue of digital isolation, even in restaurants. Participating venues will ask diners to put away their phones for a month, offering board games and coloring materials instead. Families will also receive brochures on the dangers of excessive technology use. The project seeks to foster closer family connections in public spaces, with hopes of expanding to more restaurants across Italy. Emanuele Frongia, president of the Sardinian branch of Fipe-Confcommercio, emphasizes the importance of restaurants in rebuilding family bonds.
