"Knowing how to save a life should be a school requirement"
In France, a person suffers a cardiac arrest every thirteen minutes, with over 40,000 cases annually and a survival rate below 10%. Immediate recognition and action are crucial for survival, including calling emergency services, performing CPR, and using a defibrillator. Awareness has improved survival rates in sports contexts, rising from 23.8% in 2005 to 66.7% in 2018, largely due to increased bystander CPR and defibrillator use. However, over 95% of cardiac arrests occur outside sports, with survival rates remaining low. The National Academy of Medicine has advocated for early education on lifesaving techniques, emphasizing schools as key venues for teaching these skills to future generations.
