Schaarbeek appeals against building permit for 39 homes and felling of 50 trees

The municipality of Schaarbeek has appealed against a building permit granted for a housing project in Distelhoek, which includes 39 homes. The Brussels Region issued the permit for the 'Carré des Chardons' project, which involves significant tree removal and ecological concerns. Schaarbeek officials argue that the permit was granted without proper procedures, including a lack of public consultation and disregard for environmental impacts. They highlight an increase in tree removal from 35 to 50 and a decrease in biodiversity contribution. The appeal will be submitted by November 16, seeking a review of the permit based on procedural errors and environmental effects.
