Ice skating fans can again take the train directly to Thialf this winter

Train services will resume stopping at Thialf for major skating events this winter, including the World Cup and national championships. The initiative follows a successful trial last spring, where 12% of visitors used the train. Trains will stop at Heerenveen IJsstadion during events, with services running from one to two hours before and after competitions. The province aims to increase train usage ahead of the 2030 Winter Olympics, where Thialf will host the skating events. Discussions are planned to secure long-term funding for the train stops.
