Writer Herman Koch has Parkinson's disease
Herman Koch revealed he has Parkinson's disease during an appearance on the talk show Eva. He has been dealing with balance issues for years, initially attributing them to medication for prostate cancer. After consulting a doctor, he discovered his handwriting had changed, a symptom of Parkinson's. Tests confirmed the diagnosis, which was shocking but he has adjusted to it. Since starting Parkinson's medication, he feels better and has experienced fewer symptoms. Koch also discussed his bestselling novel, Het diner, which will be available for free in libraries as part of a campaign. Despite his diagnosis, he continues to write and has several upcoming novels.
