Serbia: Over 50 percent of votes for students. Clear defeat for the president
The Serbian Electoral Commission announced preliminary results showing the United Serbia party received 39.29% of the votes, while the Student List led with over 52.9%. Only two parties surpassed the electoral threshold of 3%, with the Socialist Party of Serbia receiving 2.18% and Authentic Right 0.82%. Voter turnout was 68.78%, with 1.29% invalid votes. Former president Aleksandar Vucic acknowledged his defeat after nearly two years of protests against his government, sparked by a tragic incident in Novi Sad that resulted in 16 deaths. The protests were initiated by students who formed the Student List for the elections.
