Serbia’s elections: 'Tracking fraud for sure had an impact on the results'
On October 25, Serbia's Student List movement achieved a significant victory in parliamentary elections, defeating the ruling Serbian Progressive Party led by Aleksandar Vucic. The Student List garnered 52.45% of the votes, securing 138 seats, while Vucic's party received 39.2%, earning 103 seats. This success followed extensive efforts by the student movement to combat electoral fraud, including training over 16,000 volunteers to monitor polling stations. Reports of electoral irregularities included carousel voting and intimidation of voters. Despite challenges, including attacks on monitors, the movement's mobilization contributed to a higher voter turnout of 69%. Observers noted that manipulation was reduced compared to previous elections, highlighting the impact of grassroots activism in the electoral process.
