Shalabayeva, disposto appello ter per i cinque poliziotti
The Italian Supreme Court has ordered a third appeal for five police officers involved in the Shalabayeva case. The defendants, including former police chief Renato Cortese, are accused of kidnapping Alma Shalabayeva's daughter, while the statute of limitations has been recognized for the kidnapping of the mother. In a previous appeal, they were sentenced to four years in Florence. Prosecutor Alessandro Cimmino requested a new appeal for Cortese and two other officers regarding the daughter's kidnapping, arguing that intent was not proven. For former immigration chief Maurizio Improta and another officer, a new appeal was sought only for mitigating circumstances, acknowledging intent in the kidnapping of the minor.
