Shopping at Tapada das Mercês closed due to unsanitary conditions

Authorities closed a shopping center in Tapada das Mercês, Sintra, due to severe hygiene and safety issues, including two individuals living in stores under degrading conditions. The operation, conducted by various agencies, followed reports of improper use of shops for housing. A 71-year-old man was found in poor health and taken to the hospital, while a woman previously flagged by social services was also identified.
