Sintra: 150 euros per student and Family IMI rejected

The Sintra Chamber approved the "family voucher" to support students in the municipality, initially for secondary and vocational education, while rejecting socialist proposals for a Family IMI and a municipal housing program. The voucher, worth up to 150 euros per student per academic year, targets students under 18 attending local schools. Eligibility requires Portuguese nationality or valid residency in the area. The regulation will be implemented gradually, expanding to various educational levels by 2029. Socialist proposals for a Family IMI and housing initiatives were dismissed, with arguments highlighting the urgency of social support for families. Mayor Marco Almeida confirmed the commitment to implement the Family IMI during the current mandate.
